National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR)
 Peoria is home to the nation’s largest U.S. Department of Agriculture laboratory. It employs nearly 100 Ph.D. scientists and 160 technicians who consistently create breakthroughs in metabolic engineering, fermentation, food safety, biomaterials and processing technologies. The discovery for mass-producing Penicillin was made here.
