Caterpillar Inc.
 Downtown Peoria is home to Caterpillar’s international headquarters. Its Technology & Solutions Division (T&SD) is also located in Peoria with six lab facilities on a 200-acre campus. Its scientists are developing world-changing technologies there—some of which become real opportunities for local and outside entrepreneurs. In 2004 Caterpillar researchers at T&SD were named "Inventors of the Year" by the Intellectual Property Owners Association for their development of new low-emission diesel engine technology (ACERT). Annual R & D expenditures at Caterpillar are in the $700 million range.
